Talked to Carole Braden's class at NYU tonight, before which I went to Other Music and spent basically my entire honorarium from the class (Stereolab, Fennesz, Playgroup). The cold has cleared up enough that I can actually talk without sounding like a cartoon, too. But I'm still weakened enough by it that my response to really worthwhile cultural artifacts (Orwell's Homage to Catalonia, Chris Marker's "La Jetée," the first track on that new Fennesz album) is to boggle exhaustedly, instead of trying to figure out how I can respond to them. Maybe sleep will help.
